Persona Skins

My new store is officially open and the new skin line is available for purchase.

It's called Persona. These skins are designed to fit a certain personality and style. All facial features and makeups are specially made to create the perfect persona.

Right now I have three personas, The Girl Next Door, The Pinup, and The Model. Each makeup option is $1000L and comes with 4 lip colors. The fatpack contains 32 skins plus a shape for $6000L.

I am still working on adding more skintones, you should see those soon.

First off, Soda now has its own sim!!! Well, almost. I purchased a sim with my longtime land partners and RL friends, owners of Second Wave Apparel and Bonbonniere. We have officially moved in to the new sim, called Soigne.

We will be having a grand opening fashion show this Saturday at 12-noon SLT. My new skin line, called the Persona skin line, will be debuted at the show. I will post more info about these skins afterwards :)

I also have a new update group. I have merged my group with SWA & Bonbonniere, so you can get updates from all 3 of us plus lots and lots of freebies. To join, just visit the new sim and click on any of the group signs around the sim.

Skin Designer Updates!

Great News!

The Skin Designer Kiosk has been changed to allow you to have more than one order in the queue at a time. So now, if you can't decide between two options, order them both, and as long as you order them one right after the other, they should both appear in the kiosk when you get your notice that your skin is ready. You can try them both on and choose the one you want or choose both!

Also, about the mystery skins... everyone keeps asking me when i'll be putting more out so here's the easy answer: Whenever! I basically only put out skins that have been abandoned in the skin designer kiosk after an extended period of time. So sometimes there will be more than others and sometimes they won't be any. It's basically random. I also only put out the ones that I personally like. So not every abandoned skin will make it onto the mystery skin table.

Okay, so I was trying to think of something to do with the custom skins from the Skin Designer that never get picked up. Yes, it happens, as much as it saddens me. But since they've been created and uploaded, it seems a shame to let them go to waste. So I figured I would give other the opportunity to have a unique skin at a fraction of the price. I picked a couple of my favorites from the abandonded skins and put them in boxes in the mainstore. They are a ONE TIME BUY. So once you buy them, that particular skin is gone forever. So it is still unique to you.

But there's one catch. You don't really know what you're gonna get. I was reminded of being a kid and going to the Sanrio store. There, they had a bin of plain white boxes with prices on them. You pay the money and get the random prize. Sometimes it was worth more than you paid, but sometimes it was equal. Well this works the same way except its ALWAYS worth more than you paid. And i have labled them by skintone so at least you can get something you might actually wear.

So go check it out. if these disappear, I may add more. So keep checking.

Soda Skin Designer News

First of all, thanks to everyone who has helped make the opening weekend of the skin designer a success! I am still plowing through orders, so if you haven't received yours yet, you will soon!

I wanted to mention to anyone whose skin was delivered Sunday, there was a problem with the kiosk and you may not have been able to pick up your skin. Turns out I was simply putting too many items into one kiosk and the script overloaded. SO... I put two kiosks out for the time being until I can figure out a better way to hold them. It may be as simple as making a couple kiosks and organizing them alphabetically. I will look into this as soon as there is a lull in orders. But in the future, incase kiosk decides to choke again, don't pay the kiosk unless it asks you to, cause that money will go nowhere! You will know if the kiosk is borked cause it won't respond at all when touched.

I also wanted to take moment to mention a couple of upcoming features that will be added in version 2.0 of the skin designer. I am going to be allowing users to add custom elements to the body area (not just the face) and also have a way to view the skin tone on the avatar without having to be in world.I am also looking into adding a "fat pack" feature, ie. allowing users to order all lip colors or eye makeups for your chosen combination.

Thanks to all customers who have supported me and been patient in the early stages of this project, and PLEASE if you have feature suggestions, let me know. I hope to improve the product big time by version 2.

The Soda Skin Designer is Here!!!!!!

I am very excited to announce the beta release of a project I have been working on for AGES now, The Soda Skin Designer.

What is the Soda Skin Designer?:

It'a a unique tool I have created to allow residents to customize their look by choosing between a number of facial features. You can choose your eyebrows, eye shape, eye makeup, nose, lip shape, lip color, and extra features. There are hundreds of thousands of combinations available (no, really!), so you can make sure you are truly unique!
Visit the Soda main store for more information and free demos!

EDITED TO ADD: at the moment, you can only have ONE order in the queue at any given time. I am working on fixing that, but for right now, order one and when you receive it, order another.

So, How does it work?

How to use the Soda Skin Designer:

1. Visit http://www.sodaskins.com

2. Use the web interface to design you custom face and skin color. (flash is required to use the skin designer application.)

3. Make your choices carefully! You will not be able to make changes once you submit your order.

4. Once your order is submitted, your skin will be created by hand and placed in the Pickup Kiosk located at the Soda Main Store. Please allow 3-5 days for skin creation, depending on the current volume of orders.

5. You will be notified by email and IM when your skin is ready for pickup.

6. When you visit the Pickup Kiosk, simply touch the kiosk to purchase your skin's demo.
(The demo is $100L and is a deposit for your final skin purchase. The reason the demo is not free is to prevent billions of orders from non serious buyers. All demos are hand created, so I have to keep my sanity somehow!) If you wish to make changes to your skin after viewing the demo, you must visit www.sodaskins.com and resubmit your order. Your skin in the kiosk will be replaced with your revised design.

7. Once you have purchased the demo, simply touch the kiosk again to purchase the full skin.

This tool is new and in a sort of beta stage. It's fully functional, but I am looking for ways to improve the usability and products themselves. Please feel free to drop me a notecard with your feedback on how i can improve the skin designer.

A million years ago I had a demo of a skin I was working on called Starlet. Well, I put that skin on the backburner and recently dug it out and fixed it all up! It's a bit different from the demo version, but I think it finally came together!
sooo here it is:

currently available in 3 skintones, 4 makeups each. Each makeup has 4 different lip colors included, PLUS freckled and non freckled versions. 8 skins for the price of one!

Soda now sells shapes, too!! The lovely Kira Paderborn, owner of *Shapes by Kira* has created some shapes that look great on Soda skins! So these are now available in the Soda main store. The shape in the Starlet ad is the "Ellie" shape by Kira.

I've been working really hard and am almost ready to release the new Soda skins in my new location. They work a little differently than my previous skin line. In this version, you will have several different faces to choose from on the same body. Each face has its own set of makeup selections and each makeup selection comes with at least 4 lip colors in the package. So you get 4 skins for the price of one!

Expect to see these in the next week if everything goes well.

Sorry guys for being totally absent recently. This weekend was Dragoncon which totally consumed me all weekend. I met ONE person from SL - he had a second life sticker on his badge and i was like "WHERE did you get one of those?!". I apparently missed out on the meetup. I suck. but as always, the con was a blast. i participated in an all female Batman villain group on sunday night which was a big hit.

I will get caught up on ALL my IMs in the next couple of days, but then i will be out of the country for 2 weeks! I am going to jolly ol' England! I seriously can't wait. So if you IM me after this friday. expect a delay in response. I am pretty sure i wont have internet access.

But i do have some awesome plans for Soda in the works. Not counting the new makeups i have created for the Andrea Skins, which are DONE but sadly probably wont go up until i get back from england, i am also working on customizable skins. I don't have everything worked out yet, but it will work basically like a catalog of lip, eye, and eyebrow choices that you can combine to create the perfect face combo. I am super excited about doing it, since I know everyone wants their own special skin and I think this is a good way to do it. I just gotta work out the logistics. If you have any suggestions on what you might like to see as an option, please let me know. I am open for anything!

Soda has a new line of skins called Andrea.

These are largely handpainted skins with a soft shaded look. It comes in 6 skin tones in all. The lighter skin tones may look similar on the poster, but try them on! Some have a more pink hue, while the other has an olive hue.

So far there are 13 makeup choices including a no makeup, fresh out of bed natural option! Each one is L$850 or you can get a pack of 4 for L$3000. Each skin comes with a lightly freckled version as well.

All of the eyes seen in the ads are also for sale at the store for L$55 each.

I swear I am not dead! Lots of RL troubles so i have to put the new store on the backburner. But things are looking up, i just gotta pick up where i left off! I've collaborated a bit with a talented artist, Lila, to create some cool tattoos. I have a bunch of tattoos in real life and i couldn't believe i let my AV go so long with pure unaltered skin!

So yeah.. new things to look for in the new store:
- Tattoos
- Skins (which will be on sale as "beta" versions in order to get enough feedback to improve based on customer response)
- Eyes
-And of course, new colorful clothes

hopefully the RL drama can leave me alone long enough for me to get this all done! (crosses fingers)

Well, the new building is completed! I will be spending a good amount of time organizing and setting up the new store, so i don't expect it to be officially open for another few weeks. I have a lot of new things that will be in the new place that i am really excited about. I want to have a grand opening party, but the date is unknown at this point so just keep watching this space for more updates. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later :)

I just realized i had forgotten to blog about my new release, for those that don't read the forums. Oh well, 2 days late is better than never, eh?

So i created this simple, flirty dress with a plunging neckline adorned with a gold flower gem. It comes in three jewel tone colors: Turquoise, Garnet, and Amethyst.

These dresses are available in my main store in Plush Elektra.

I am currently working on a very big, very challenging project that may may not work out. but i sure hope it does. *keeps fingers crosses*

I bought some new land. Nothing spectacular, unfortunately, but i had a difficult time finding the perfect land without spending more than i needed to at this stage in my business. I am currently looking for a builder as i have absolutely no time to build a new shop on my own. I have a very specific idea in mind for my shop and if it turns out it could be very very cool. It definitely reflects my personality and style. I hope it works out.

I'll keep you updated. The old shop will still be open in the meantime.

Well I took a little break, but I am back and creating again!

i had a little bit of fun with the photography on these ads. I am still trying to decide how i want to display my products, and i think i am going to do a total overhaul very soon. I am looking to move to a new location, i just haven't found a spot of land i like yet. Is it just me or does it seem near impossible to find good, commercial land without buying an entire sim? I just wish they would let me buy 1/4 of a sim. thats all i need, really. Well if anyone has a nice commercial plot they wanna sell me, let me know. cause i am in the market!

Posted these on the forums last night but was too tired to update my blog. But here they are! I have two new offerings today. These two dresses are pretty different from eachother, but both very cute.

Argyle Tramp - A Purple argyle patterened jumper with flexi skirt and matching stockings. It also comes with a pair of matching undies and red flexi neck tie. This outfit was inspired by an outfit i own in real life. It's my favorite, so i figured it just might be someone else's virtual favorite.

Gutter Glitter - A little black dress with a bit of flair. Black satin strapless dress with a velvet ribbon tied with a circular diamond brooch. Topped with a ruffled flexi prim skirt, its as flirty as you will ever need to be!

Black pinstriped pants with skull detail on the back pocket, and matching camisole.

The next new item is a simple collection of lace trimmed tank tops.. perfect under any jacket. This is the same tank top that comes as part of the Rock Star outfit, only in multiple colors! You can, of course, buy these separately or in a pack of 5.

I was planning on waiting to release this with the rest of the collection, but i just couldn't wait anymore so I will just have to release them one by one.

Soda has a new line called Soda Rocks! It's a collection of edgier clothes with a nice early 80s punk feel to them. So if that is your style, keep an eye out for the rest of the collection coming out soon.

So the first release is called the Rock Star outfit. It includes everything you see in the ad, plus.. the jacket comes in three different varieties, with back detail (as seen in the ad), arm detail, or no detail. (i was indecisive!)

When Second Life melds with Real Life

It's become pretty obvious to most residents of SL that there is a new surge of outside interest and now all sorts of businesses, musicians, etc want a piece of the action. I know there is some mixed feelings on these sorts of ventures in SL. Lots of people are threatened by it, and a recent episode of Second Cast mentioned that there seemed to be little point or interest to most of these new corporate ventures that are springing up all over the place. I didn't think about it too much until recently, when it seems to have hit me by storm.
I am still pretty new to SL, but I am the only one in my circle of friends and aquaintences that is involved in SL at all. Most of them had not heard of it until i mentioned it to them. So naturally, when the interest is sparked, I am the person everyone comes to for information. So recently a friend of mine that works at Cartoon Network comes to me to ask tons of questions about Second Life.. when i ask him why he wants to know all this, he tells me that CN is considering entering SL. For what, excactly.. i am not sure. I suppose a company such as Cartoon Network could do a whole lot of things in Second Life... but what's in it for them?
Which brings me to my next surprise. As i may have mentioned before, I work as a designer at a digital advertising company. Our company has recently merged with another larger ad agency and is all interested in doing a slew of far out things... so one of those things happens to be Second Life. My company wants to open up an island... and of course, as the resident (i.e. only) Second Life player, i have been asked to meet with the CEO to talk about prospects. But here is where i am confused.. what in the world could a digital advertising agency offer in SL? What is the purpose? I suppose i am a bit lost on what exactly they want to achieve by owning an island in SL, but its all very strange to me. My virtual world has suddenly become a lot less virtual and much more real... and i am not sure how i feel about it....

Who says you can't be Bubbly AND Sexy?

These new sets are sexy, but not TOO sexy. Perfect for the girl who doesnt like to get all glammed up. There are two different styles, each in 3 different colors: Pink, Red and Black.
You can buy each color individually, or buy all 3 colors in a discounted pack. (One pack per style!) So thats 6 options in all!

I had heard that making undergarments was a challenge, and all the rumors were true! The SL avatar mesh just doesnt make undies look that flattering without a bit of work. Hopefully these attempts dont fail miserably, but i am certainly up to the challenge of creating more and improving upon the style.

Also in the works right now: I am working on a special line of clothing for new residents. Being semi new myself (a mere 4 months old!) i understand how frustrating it is to want cool clothes but not wanting to spend the cash on a game you are unsure you will continue playing. So i am going to make a collection of L$1 seperates, mostly coming from things i have made in the early stages of my designing but have never been released. So i am very excited about this.. keep an eye out for it in the near future!

One more thing! (i cant stop writing today!) If you visit my shop you may notice a small prefab hanging out on the island. This small little building is the future home of Sioxie's Designs. Sioxie Legend is a VERY new resident (as of 3 days ago!) and is a RL co worker of mine. She is a very talented artist and is interested in designing clothing too. I know she will go far! So i am loaning her a little space of my land to get started. So keep your eye out for her.. i have a feeling she will take off soon.

Colorful Cardigans for Every Mood

I had a good time making these little sweater sets. There is nothing I love more than a funky pattern. I probably could've continued to make a billion combinations of these, but I figured I'd better stop a a nice, healthy number of 4.

I think my favorite of the lot is the chocolate brown cardigan with the french blue tank underneath. Brown is just such a hip color these days I can't resist it.

Just for fun I made a couple new Faded Tees. Just figured seeing my own closet is full of thousands of tshirts I would try to spread the insanity onto others.

Also, in unrelated news, I finally found the skin i want to live in forever. After flip flopping and changing every five minutes, this one seen in my ads by Gala Phoenix has won me over! It's from the Autumn collection and i lovelovelove it! So i think i shall never take it off.

Soda has a blog!

Well, I was told that I MUST get a blog and join the ever growing Second Life Fashion Blogsphere. So after a short period of resistance towards joinging the machine, I decided to give in :)

You can check here for updates on what's going on at Soda, though I will still continue to post updates on the SL Forums. I also plan on writing about my future plans, as i have many of them!

I have only been a member of Second Life for a few months now and it has already taken over! I just regret I have not had the chance to attend any events thus far and be more social in world. So, please, if you see me in world, stop and say hi! I love meeting new people. I am a social butterfly in my First Life, so why should it be any different here?
